About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our Advisory team, responsible for guiding and supporting our members through their philanthropy. As a Senior Advisor you will provide our members with portfolios of grant recommendations that fit their values and priorities while optimising for recommendations to the highest-impact funding opportunities that are able to have outsized impact. You will be well positioned to influence and inspire our members – CEOs, founders and investors with significant philanthropic capital – to give more and give better through your expert advice.
You will have a broad portfolio of members, based on the East and West Coast of the USA, as well as some in EMEA. You will report into our Chief Experience Officer and manage an Advisor, both based in the UK. You will join a global team, working closely alongside the global Membership Experience function, including a team of Community Managers who serve our members across the 40+ countries in which our members live.
What You’ll Do
- Building and managing relationships with a portfolio of members, working with them to establish their philanthropic priorities and developing high-impact portfolios to guide their giving
- Providing expert philanthropic advice to those within our membership such that they are well-prepared to maximise the impact of their giving
- Representing Founders Pledge and our approach to high-impact philanthropy at our events where appropriate, which include dinners, retreats and webinars
- Developing high-quality materials and communication assets that inspire members to engage with the Advisory service and stay engaged within their time-bound Advisory journey
- Designing and delivering learning experiences (salons, workshops, reading lists) that increase members’ understanding of high-impact philanthropy and readiness to act
- Working cross-functionally with other member-facing teams to ensure seamless and exceptional member stewardship that leads to high-impact giving
- Contributing to a shared learning infrastructure by capturing insights, FAQs, and resources that strengthen the learning infrastructure and scalability of our advisory practice
- Line managing a UK-based Advisor
- Collaborating cross functionally to ensure alignment and shared learning across the organisation, in particular with our Philanthropy Partners Team, Research Team and Comms Team
What We’re Looking For
This role is perfect for someone who is deeply driven and excited by the opportunity to influence the deployment of significant levels of philanthropic capital held by tech entrepreneurs to the interventions and charities that can have outsized impact and truly change the world for the better.
You may have experience in an advisory capacity to HNWIs, perhaps through Philanthropic Advising, Major Gifts stewardship, Community Management, Wealth Management or similar professions. Alternatively you may also come from the world of academia, entrepreneurship or policy strategy Most important is a deep, nuanced understanding of the philanthropic landscape, intellectual curiosity, and an ability to build trusted relationships and inspire action.
To be successful in this role, you will understand the importance of being cause-neutral through our advisory practice and you will be aligned with our approach to high-impact philanthropy. You will be passionate about learning more about our research and can bring that enthusiasm and passion into your interactions with our members.
Strong candidates will have:
- The ability to absorb and parse large quantities of new and complex information fast
- Relevant direct or transferrable experience in advising individuals in philanthropy, investments, business or policy
- The ability to quickly build peer-level, trusting relationships with our membership of tech CEOs, founders and investors
- Experience influencing stakeholders and a comfort in holding space for positive and productive challenge that leads to positive outcomes
- A service-oriented approach and flexibility in your working style to meet the needs of our members as well as our goals as an organisation
- Experience communicating and leveraging complex information clearly and persuasively
- An informed overview of the philanthropic landscape beyond the bounds of the Founders Pledge approach
- A drive to help others learn, deepen their understanding of impact, connect with peers, and grow in their philanthropic confidence
- The ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and recognise that strong internal partnerships are essential to delivering a seamless advisory experience for our members
- Comfort facilitating either a small-group learning session or diving into the research, seeng learning as a lever for culture change
- Business fluency in German and/or French (nice to have but not crucial)

We ask applicants for this role to be based in New York. We’d like you to come to our office at 33 Irving Place a minimum of 1-2 days a week, and a willingness to travel locally, nationally and internationally is essential.
We usually bring the global team together once per year, and individual teams will meet to work together at least once annually!
