Grants & Monitoring Officer
Drive high-impact philanthropy in a hybrid role from our London office, ensuring smooth, compliant global grant-making.
About Us
At Founders Pledge, our mission is to empower entrepreneurs to do immense good. Since launching in 2015, we’ve raised over $10 billion for the most impactful social causes. We offer the simplest path to impact for successful entrepreneurs, providing end-to-end giving infrastructure, pioneering research, and access to a worldwide network of experts.
In other words, we help tech leaders become strategic philanthropists. Our 2100+ members include the people behind industry-leading companies such as Airbnb, UiPath, Dropbox, Skype, Spotify, and Uber.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Grants & Monitoring Officer to join our Philanthropic Services Team, who empower the Founders Pledge community by providing expertise, innovative solutions and guidance on effective giving, to enable high-impact philanthropy. Along with our existing Grants & Monitoring Officers, you’ll support the administrative and operational aspects of our international, high-volume grant-making process. You’ll also partner with other teams to improve processes, provide tools and resources, and deliver impact. Reporting into our Grants Manager, your primary responsibility will be making grants to end-user charities globally.
What You’ll Do
- Processing grants, grant agreements and payments efficiently and accurately, according to stated service levels. This will include researching grant requests, verifying organizations eligibility and ensuring rigorous accounting of grant payments alongside our Finance team.
- Administer grants from our Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) and thematic funds across our U.S., UK, and German entities while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and Founders Pledge policies.
- Maintaining a high level of knowledge of Founders Pledge due diligence policies, practices, and procedures and identifying any additional research required. You’ll also suggest ways to improve our processes.
- Helping to maintain our legal and compliance documentation.
- Adding contacts, charities, grants and transfers to Salesforce (our CRM).
- Writing and drafting emails to grant recipients, and on occasion member-facing communications.
- Provide subject matter expertise in specific, assigned grant interest areas, for example US-specific charitable regulations such as expenditure responsibility and/or equivalency determination or UK-specific charitable regulations around safeguarding policies.
Although your main focus will be grantmaking, you’ll also be involved with a variety of different best-practice, cross-functional projects. You’ll use your grantmaking expertise to guide other teams in finding the best solutions for our members and teams will consult with you to ensure their procedures align with top-class grantmaking.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for somebody with experience in grantmaking and an absolute passion for providing the best service to our members.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has:
- Experience in UK grantmaking and processing. US and International grantmaking experience is a plus.
- Experience with Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs).
- Proven ability to progress multiple tasks and deadlines at the same time.
- Impeccable attention to detail and the ability to manage your time effectively.
- Excellent written communication skills. This will help with writing emails to members and charities.
- A financial mindset and comfort working with numbers. Experience working across currencies would be a plus.
- Previous experience using CRM tools (Salesforce would be a bonus).
- Experience training or consulting is a plus.
- Process improvement and a desire to build a best-in-class grantmaking experience for our members. You might have project management experience.
